Compared with 92% sodium formate, it has higher purity, fewer impurities, and may be purer and more uniform in appearance. They are all white crystals or powders with a slight smell of formic acid. They are easily soluble in water and glycerol, and slightly soluble in ethanol. Their aqueous solutions are alkaline, with a melting point of ≥253°C and a boiling point of 360°C.
